What many might not know is that in Genoa, the last Friday of every month, they invite the public to a Star party that is held at The River Fork Ranch on Genoa Lane. This open invitation is run by expert volunteers and starts at dusk or 6:30 pm whichever is later during the season.

Free Family events such as this one are one of the true treasures of living in a community in The Carson Valley region. Our night sky is often enjoyed around a fire pit in the back yard or camp fire on the family outing. The Astronomical Society of Nevada provides us a closer look at the stars, planets and wonders of space through the eye of a telescope and the knowledge of local experts that can tell us what we are looking at and for on our next evening out.
