Starbucks has been part of the Carson Valley since 2005. It is one of the county’s largest employers (ranked #16 in local employment) and many people may not recognize that it is also one of the largest roasting plants in the world. Starbucks Coffee Company’s Carson Valley Roasting Plant & Distribution Center roasts, packages, and distributes coffee and non-coffee items to retail locations. The company employs 140 people at its facility in Minden, Nevada.

Living in the Carson Valley has many “perks”, including the visual of the Starbucks private jet coming into the Minden Airport daily and the smell of Starbucks roasting plant on a summer afternoon as the breeze picks up the aroma from the plant. Starbucks also has three retail locations in the county. They recently just remodeled the south location in Gardnerville to allow for more table space and hangout locations for visitors.
Starbucks policy on hiring local employees has made it a strong partner in our community development. During the holiday season Starbucks also hires on additional staff to help with distribution increases for the holiday. The Starbucks plant is one of the featured manufacturing businesses in the Johnson Lane Business Park.
